Prove the strength of a modularised drive drum of belt conveyor.
This was the first time we managed to added flexibility and yet precise design to our employer. FEM calculation-based fatigue strength assessment of motor stud that allows to drive the same product family of drums by various geared motors. Because the utilization of commercial conical clamping sleeve was not in accordance with the intended usage, we designed a test machine to prove feasibility. After performing the test, we also assessed the results. We used asynchronous motor with frequency converter in generator mode to have the brake that provided the load for the drive at the other side of the tested connection between stud and drum. We used scrapped motor and frequency converter to build the test unit to keep cost low.
